While exporting/importing a Thesaurus in KM, there are three valid file formats:
- Alphabetical file (.the file format)
- Hierarchical file (.jcd file format)
- SKOS/RDF XML file (.rdf file format)

The Alphabetical format allows tags that represent the existant relationship between terms, and they will be considered in the exportation and importation of Thesaurus. Here are some common tags and their explanation:

| SN | Scope Note | - |
| CL | Classifaction Code | - |
| USE | - | Term with a "Synonym" relationship |
| BT | Broader Term | Parent term in "Composition" relationship |
| NT | Narrower Term | Child term in "Composition" relationship |
| UF | Is Used | Term with in a "Equivalance" relationship |
| RT | Related | Term with in a "Association" relationship |
IMPORTANT: These tags will follow the abbreviation form defined by the user for each relationship type, and it is totally customizable. For instance, in the attached screenshot, there are defined the BT (Broader term) and NT (Narrower term) tags for the
<Composition> relationship type. These tags will be the ones used by the exportation and importation of this Thesaurus.
