Requirements Transformations and Traceability in SIM

  • Review the importance of traceability among different sort of work items
  • Introduction to the SIM – Systems Interoperability Manager
  • Introduction to the T+ tool, the traceability add-on of SIM
  • Introduction to the R+ tool, the add-on in SIM for requirements transformation

Textual requirements are a living entity in the current Systems Engineering projects. Requirements might come from customers, even in different languages, requirements are expressed at different level of detail, before they are validated through test cases; requirements are also key in the identification of the high-level architecture of the system, as well as other diagrams generated during a modeling stage.

R+, an add-on of the SIM tool (Systems Interoperability Manager), is based on requirements patterns to provide a wide set of textual transformation: among different languages, at different levels of abstraction, to be transformed in textual test cases, or even in model elements.

Finally, traceability is key for the success of the projects, and fully required in safety critical projects. The concept of traceability is introduced in this course from a Systems Engineering perspective, then the tool T+, an add-on of the SIM platform is presented and practices using this tool are provided.
