The BABOK® -Business Analysis Body of Knowledge– is a framework comprehending the set of skills, competencies, attitudes, and terminology required to complete a professional Business Analysis work. These guidelines can be classified into six core Knowledge Areas:

Business Analysis Planning & Monitoring.
Elicitation & Collaboration.
Requirements Life Cycle Management.
Strategy Analysis.
Requirements Analysis and Design Definition (RADD).
Solutions Evaluation.

All the aforementioned domains are either directly or indirectly involving Requirements, as they resemble a crucial part of any Business Analysis project by specifying the needs and restrictions to be followed during its development. Amongst the different tasks involved in the Requirements Analysis and Design Definition (RADD), the Requirements Verification is vital to ensure the quality of the specification and can easily become a daunting task if it is not completed according to an appropriate set of quality guidelines. Within the BABOK® Guide, this is comprised of nine specific characteristics to be followed for achieving a high requirements’ quality:

Atomicity.
Completeness.
Consistency.
Conciseness.
Feasibility.
Unambiguity.
Testability.
Prioritization.
Understandability.

Despite being clearly defined, applying these quality guidelines can feel overwhelming, as there is a vast number of divergent possibilities when trying to specify requirements with professional quality levels across the board. At The REUSE Company, it has been developed a complete Knowledge Library to cover and ensure the application of these RADD characteristics within the BABOK® Guide, simplifying the Business Analysts in the process of writing high-quality requirements, and thus, facilitating the compliance with the BABOK® Standard. The BABOK® Library is part of the SES ENGINEERING Studio environment and can be used with the RAT – AUTHORING Tool and RQA – QUALITY Studio for the quality assessment of any textual element.
